Apps I Use to Make Extra Money

I’m always looking for ways to make extra cash. Luckily, I’ve stumbled across a few methods that do help me make money without much time or effort. Since it is the holiday season and a few of these require you to shop a little to get points, I thought I’d share a few of my favorite apps. These will by no means make you rich, but it’s enough to treat yourself to a free coffee. Also, I’ll include referral links when I can (then you can help me out), but if you’d rather not use them that’s fine too!

Achievement

This app is certainly not the fastest way to make money, but you accumulate points every day whether you check into the app or not. Once you connect a health-related app (I use Apple’s Health), the app gathers information about how many steps you walk and gives you points based on that (which can also motivate you to be healthier!). It’s easier to get points if you use an Apple Watch or fitbit that sends data to your phone. There are also other research opportunities you can participate in to get more points (some are simple yes or no questions). Once you get 10,000 points, you receive $10. I haven’t reached 10,000 points yet, but I’m getting close! You can also gain points by referring people, so if you’d like to help me out, feel free to use my referral link.

Ibotta

For Ibotta, all you have to do is select the items you purchased that they’re offering points for on the app and submit a picture of your receipt. Ibotta occasionally has specials that allow you to accumulate points faster, and then once you earn $20 worth, you can collect the money! If you’d like to sign up using my referral code, it’s: huukayl.

ShopKick

ShopKick will give you points simply for walking into stores. Other methods of getting points include scanning certain items in the store and, like Ibotta, taking pictures of your receipt with certain items on it. Especially when I’m out shopping with my parents (who generally take longer than me), I search for barcode items to scan and get points while I’m waiting for my parents to wrap up their shopping. While this app doesn’t give you money, you can get gift cards to places like Target! If you’d like to sign up using my referral code, it’s: SAVE771422.

Ebates

I tend not to use this one as much anymore (I don’t shop very often), but if you’re an avid online shopper, you should definitely look into it! All you have to do is click the store link from Ebates, make a purchase, and the site will give you a percentage of your cash back. They also list any deals or coupons that are currently being offered at the stores. Ebates will send you a check once you reach a certain cash amount. Here’s my referral link if you’d like to make an account. Normally, they even offer a gift card once you sign up and start shopping!

Bing Rewards

This isn’t necessarily an app, but I have received multiple gift cards from using Bing as my primary search engine. Google might be more accurate, but most of the time I need simple answers and Bing works fine for me. Bing Rewards also allows you to take quizzes and polls to gain more points. You can use your points to enter sweepstakes, donate to charities, or receive gift cards to places such as Starbucks, Chipotle, Amazon, etc.

  1. I’ve used eBates and iBotta before! I still have the Ibotta app on my phone but I have to earn like another $20 before I can cash out this money!! I think the other apps are definitely worth looking into 😊

    • I think I have $13 on my Ibotta right now so I’m getting close! And yeah, the other three don’t require you to shop and spend money (well except for ShopKick, but you can just walk into stores to get points without actually purchasing things 😂) which is always nice

  2. I use ebates and think its so cool to earn cashback from shopping online! I’ve used Ibotta and Shopkick but felt I never really got a return on them. Bing Rewards sounds cool too. I’ve never heard of it so I’ll have to check it out!

    Cheers xx
