I have had a few positive changes to my life so far this year, so I thought I’d write a life update post for this week! I started 2019 off with quite a few aspirations, and I’m happy to say that I’ve been taking steps to completing them even though it’s only been a month. In this post, I’m also going to include a few things that I’ve been enjoying so far at the end of the post!
New part-time job
Last week, I started a new part-time job. It’s not in my field and doesn’t pay much, but it’s a lot closer to a professional setting than my previous jobs! This is only going to be a part-time position, so I won’t be asked to pick up more hours than I can handle. This way, I can focus on school and learning new skills for a career.
As for the job, I make drinks and food for employees at a digital firm; they already have plenty of free snacks and catering so they don’t even come to me very often. Instead, I can spend my time on my laptop or talking to employees (hello, connections!). I feel like my mood has brightened quite a bit simply from getting out of the house and being around people again!
Applied for classes
My parents have graciously offered to pay for some more classes, so it looks like that is what I am going to do! I applied and will have to schedule classes for the summer/fall later this spring. The computer science industry seems to be popular at the moment so that’s where I’m headed. I know you can research job positions online, but I don’t really know what a typical day looks like in most professions or what type of career I want. I’m someone who seeks meaning and purpose in the things I do, so hopefully computer science will somewhat allow me to achieve that.
Sticking to a blogging and a YouTube schedule
I will have to see how my schedule works with my new job, but I have been sticking to a blogging and a YouTube schedule (blog post every Tuesday/Thursday, video every Friday) this month! This is what I struggled a lot with last year, so I’m glad I’m finally getting things figured out. I think consistency is important when it comes to these hobbies (as long as you’re not simply putting out quantity over quality), so I’m happy that this is working out!
So I filmed an unboxing video that should be uploaded on my YouTube channel this week, but I purchased a pack of tarot cards! I’m not sure if these are considered the regular type of tarot (it doesn’t have the same types of cards), but this oracle deck features many creatures from the animal kingdom. I’m very much a beginner at all of this; if you have any experience, please share any tips! I love reading horoscopes and looking at tarot readings, so I thought this deck would be perfect for me to discover more about myself. If you’re interested in the deck I bought, it’s this one from Amazon (I’m not sponsored or earn money if you buy it or anything, just sharing my thoughts).
