Who’s ready for Valentine’s Day? I know it can be easy for single people to scoff at the holiday, but you know what? I’m not going to let a holiday go to waste simply because I’m currently not dating anyone. If you’re in the same boat, I’ve created a list of fun things to do that does not involve being in a relationship!
At work this week, they actually put up a pink board with hearts where people can add what they’re thankful for with heart-shaped sticky notes. While it gives off a bit of a Thanksgiving vibe, it’s never a bad time to think about what you’re grateful for, whether or not you are currently in a relationship! So if you do nothing else on Valentine’s Day, show some appreciation for the good things in you life!
Anyways, back to Valentine’s Day ideas. If you’re single or you’re not going to be able to celebrate with your significant other, here are some things you can do to celebrate the holiday!
1) Galentine’s Day
Gather up a group of friends and have a great time! There’s plenty of things you can do with your friends on Valentine’s Day-you can go out to a club and dance the night away or you could have a chill yet fun movie night with some wine and snacks (oh, like maybe some chocolate strawberries).
2) Self-care night
Spend the evening pampering yourself. Pour yourself a glass of wine, listen to your favorite music, jam out in your room, take a relaxing bath, paint your nails, use a face mask, journal, watch Netflix, cook an amazing meal-the possibilities are endless. Treat yourself to something you’ve been eyeing lately, and spend the night doing what YOU want to do!
3) Cuddle with your pets and read romance novels
Personally, this is how my day is going to be spent this year. Sometimes I feel like I love the idea of romance more than actually being in a relationship itself, so reading romance novels and watching rom com’s are perfect for me. Plus, I love my pets more than anything so I love curling up on my bed or the couch with them right beside me.
4) Buy all the discounted chocolate
My favorite part of Valentine’s Day is the day after…all of the chocolate and candy goes on sale! It’s a great time to treat yourself and indulge your sweet tooth for a low price. Plus, all the chocolate and candy will likely have a cute heart-theme to them.
5) Treat it like any other day
If you’re really not feeling it, you don’t have to do anything! Ignore any Valentine’s decor and carry on like it’s a typical day. This year, Valentine’s falls on a Thursday, so it shouldn’t be hard to go to work and carry on with your everyday routine without any romantic vibes.
