Spider-Man Cupcakes

My top two Marvel superheroes are Captain America and Spider-Man. I already wrote a post about why Captain America is my favorite, but Spider-Man was basically the hero I grew up watching. I watched the Tobey Maguire movies, then Andrew Garfield’s The Amazing Spider-Man, and then Tom Holland’s version of the character in the MCU. I honestly loved watching every Spider-Man series, although I would have to say that Tom Holland’s has been my favorite.

Anyways, after watching (and loving) Avengers: Endgame and Spider-Man: Far From Home last year, I wanted to celebrate my 25th birthday with some Spider-Man cupcakes!

When I was shopping AC Moore’s store closing sale last month, I found Avenger cupcake liners. I thought that these would be perfect for my birthday! I then waited until the week before my birthday to decide on the actual design of the cupcakes. I was at Walmart when I finally decided to brainstorm decoration ideas, and since I had a tournament to go to the day before my birthday, it would likely be my last trip to the store before baking the cupcakes (I guess I could have picked up some ingredients on my birthday…but who wants to do that?). Since Spider-Man is my favorite, he was the go-to choice. Besides, I feel like he’s one of the most popular heroes, so who wouldn’t recognize his symbol and colors?

I primarily focused on the design of these cupcakes and not the taste. Fortunately, they still ended up tasting great! I used a box of white cupcake mix from Pillsbury, red Funfetti icing, and black/white decorator icing (with a set of decorator tips).

Steps:

  1. Bake the cupcakes by following the steps on the back of the package.
  2. Wait for the cupcakes to cool before applying the icing; you don’t want the icing to melt from the heat!
  3. Coat the top of the cupcake with red icing.
  4. Make the spider web design with the black icing. Essentially, you make an asterisk and then connect the lines to make it look like a web.
  5. Use the white icing for the eyes. Then, outline those eyes with the black icing.
  6. Eat and enjoy an amazing cupcake!

I don’t normally share blog posts on baking, but since the inspiration hit, I had to write and publish it! I used to bake all the time (I’ve even made snitch cake pops before), so maybe I’ll try to feature a few more of these posts throughout the year. Baking can be time-consuming, but it’s so fun!
