Lessons From Avengers: Endgame

Whether you’re a superhero fan or not, you’ve probably heard that Avengers: Endgame was released last month (I probably tweeted about it too much myself, so I’m sorry if you think I’m a crazy obsessive fan now; you had to learn that at some point though, right?). I watched the movie opening night and was inspired to gather my thoughts into a blog post. I wanted to include a few of the lessons that I noticed throughout the movie (like my lessons from Captain Marvel post), but since this was such an epic film, I also wanted to include my favorite moments as well.

Avengers Endgame: Ulta Collection

At the beginning of April, I was pleasantly surprised to find a superhero-themed subject line from Ulta in my inbox. I guess Avengers: Endgame is popular enough for even beauty stores to release their own superhero-themed products (I believe Sephora did one as well that’s only available in another country?). Anyways, being the nerd I am, I knew I had to go out and pick up a few items, especially since there was a buy two, get two free sale going on at Ulta.

My Favorite Avenger

Avengers: End Game is almost here! I’m excited yet sad at the same time. This might be the end for some of the heroes that I’ve been rooting for over the past ten years. I really hope that if it is the end of the line, the fallen heroes will at least get an ending they deserve.

Anyways, in order to prepare myself for End Game, today I wanted to share my thoughts about my favorite Avenger. Which is…Captain America!

Lessons from Captain Marvel

Last weekend, my friend and I went to the theater to watch Captain Marvel for its opening weekend. While I was a little worried about the movie based on the trailers and the negative comments online, I ended up loving it! I might even try to bring my mom along to rewatch it in the near future.

I really liked the character of Carol Danvers (aka Captain Marvel/’Veers’). I thought she was funny, headstrong, and of course, a badass. While I certainly get inspired by superheroes no matter what, it’s always a little more empowering for me to see a female superhero (especially since her flashbacks reminded me a little of myself when I was a kid-obsessing over Amelia Earhart, falling down all of the time, getting scolded for being more ‘boy-ish’). I love how superheroes are becoming more diverse nowadays!

Lessons I’ve Learned From Quidditch

I completely understand why quidditch isn’t taken seriously as a real sport. It originated from a young adult fantasy series and requires players to run around with a PVC pipe between their legs. It can look really silly. When I first started, it was more of a nerdy sport. Some people were athletes, but the majority were geeks. The sport has grown a lot since then, and nowadays it seems to attract more athletic people. Despite this, I’ve also seen uncoordinated, geeky people practice enough to excel in their positions.

Many people do seem interested and eager to learn more when I tell them I play quidditch. Some people, however, think it’s stupid. Everyone’s entitled to their own opinion, but especially since my parents are harsh critics of the sport, I thought about why I enjoy it, what it means to me, and why I keep playing. Quidditch has honestly taught me a lot these past few years, and many are lessons that I can take with me anywhere.
