In today’s post, I wanted to share a few of the benefits I have experienced from self-isolating. I do recognize that with the pandemic, this is a devastating time, and I am grateful that I have not been as impacted as some people by the health and economic consequences. If I could exchange these perceived benefits of mine to be rid of the pandemic, I would. But I also try to see the bright side of things, and I think I really needed some time to reflect.
Sometimes, time on your own is necessary to figure things out, and I think over the past few months, I’ve gotten a better perspective on many things, such as:

You might not have noticed if you’re not a regular reader of my blog, but I’ve been slacking with my posts lately. March and April are busier months for me, so I have felt unmotivated when it comes to my blog. I haven’t been keeping up with the two posts a week that I’ve been trying to do this year. In an effort to get back into the swing of things, I thought that it would be nice to update you all on what I’ve been doing outside of blogging lately!

If you’ve been following my blog or YouTube channel, you’re probably aware that I moved back in with my parents after my apartment was damaged by Hurricane Florence. I didn’t have the funds to move into another apartment (they weren’t really available after the hurricane anyway) and held two barely-over-minimum wage jobs that didn’t challenge me, so I made the decision to move back in with my parents.
While I am grateful that I have parents to fall back on and am thankful that they can support me, it hasn’t been an easy experience. It’s hard to go from an independent adult back to a child relying on their parents. I loved having my own freedom and independence when I was in college, so I’ve missed it. It’s also difficult to find an adult job after graduating, so life’s been a bit of a struggle lately.

September was certainly a crazy month. Hurricane Florence hit the town I live in, and I’m still currently displaced due to the storm. While I missed having a consistent income, it was kind of nice to have a few weeks off of work. I was able to spend some time with my family and pets while working on my blog a little more. I also had more free time to read which doesn’t happen often.
The down side of the hurricane was all of the damage it caused. The storm didn’t affect me as much as most people, but I do have to transfer to a new apartment due to roof issues. I know a few people who ended up losing everything, and I feel terrible for them. There’s also downed trees everywhere along with some damaged buildings.

Hey there, welcome to my blog! My name’s Melissa, and while this blog is new, I’ve had a couple in the past. School and life always got in the way and led me to stop. I also think for the last one I tried too hard to give it a professional touch when I didn’t have the time for it.
Anyways, let’s step away from the past and talk about the future. I’m planning on making this a nice little lifestyle blog that’ll touch on a little bit of everything. This will probably involve books, inspiration, movies, music, art, life, and my cat. I’m honestly just writing to write, so who knows where this will take me.
Oh. I should probably introduce myself a bit more, shouldn’t I? Well, I recently graduated college with no clue as to what to do with my life. I guess you could say I’ve been floating around, not really doing much but making enough money to pay rent. Writing has always been a passion for me, so I wanted to start writing more to bring some excitement into my life (it can get pretty dull running from shift to shift everyday, especially when you hate both your jobs). If you want some more facts about me, you should check out my about me page. It’s still under construction, but there’s some information on there already.
Thanks for reading, and I can’t wait to start blogging again!
